January 2016

January 2016, Elevate Kids started a new unit called Questions, Questions, Questions. We are learning about the questions Jesus asked. Not that He didn't know the answers, of course, but to get us to think about/reflect on our own lives.

A couple of weeks ago, the children learned from that BIG question He asked His disciples. "Why do you call me Lord and not do what I command?" The Bible story was “The Wise Builder And The Foolish Builder” and how important it is not just to KNOW Jesus’ commands, but to OBEY them. Obedience brings blessings....and when we do go through storms or hard times, which everyone will, God will help us!

This past Sunday, Mrs. Jackie had a lot of competition with the beautiful falling snow glaring at us all throughout the lesson. (Huge windows in our Kids Church Room!) Never the less, we had a great time and learned a very valuable lesson. The importance of material possessions and “stuff ” is a big deal. Sadly, the love of “stuff” can easily crowd out the virtues of generosity and faithfulness to giving to God. Today the children learned from the story Jesus told of the “rich fool.” (Luke 12:13-21) Power Verse: "And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?" Mark 8:36. In the end, our stuff doesn't matter, but our relationship with God will last FOREVER!
